I’ve actually run into that for the first time myself recently. When I did, it was a piece that had printed a bit crooked. Re-printing the page fixed the problem for me, though I wonder if I could have just tilted the page a little. I don’t recall it ever doing something similar with V2. Did you run into this with V3? If so, I’m wondering if it’s related to a change in how the program is registering.

Usually, when it starts acting in a way that I find “weird”, I’ll unplug everything and let it set for a bit, then turn it back on. You could always try that as well.

Hi, just found your cool website. I have a question on print and cut.
When I go to cut, the cameo finds the registration marks then it goes to print and the status come up and says registration failed. I tried it a few times and get the same. Any suggestions? Thanks

Thanks Lauren! It was one of those times when I looked at my traffic and realized that I could make use of that information! I love sending people your way. One of these day’s I’m just going to add a button to my side bar for my favorite people. But then I’d have to choose favorites… hmm… maybe that’s not such a good idea after all.

Hi Jogry. Here are a few things that come to mind to check:

Is your paper setting in Studio the same size as the actual paper? I.e. if you’re cutting on 8.5″x11″ paper and your paper size in the program is set to 8.5″x12″, that will cause a mis-match in the cutting lines.

Is the machine registering the marks correctly? I usually watch it just to make sure that it’s actually registering correctly. I find it’s pretty easy to tell when it isn’t (the registration mark is no where near the camera when it “finds” it). If it’s not, try doing one or all of the following:

- increase your registration marks to 1mm instead of .5 in the program.
- use a higher quality print setting (fast sometimes jogs the line).
- shine a light on the registration marks as it’s registering (sometimes the available light isn’t quite enough).
- try the manual registration option (I believe this option is no longer available in v3)

Those are some of the most common issues related to print and cut. Let me know if any of those tricks help for you! Good luck! Print and cut is one of my favorite features, but it can be so frustrating when something doesn’t work out. I hope this helps!

Hi,
Can you tell me about print and cut?
My cameo cut next to the image.
I do the following:

1. reg marks
2. open image on my pad
3. send to printer
4. send to sylhouette
5. detect automatic reg marks
6. Cut

Can you tell me what I am doing wrong? I have spend 2 days with this and a lot of wasted paper

Haha! The load media was the very first mistake I made, and I had no idea what I was doing. Boy was I sad to see my brand new mat all cut up on top. They should have a sticker right on the mat for the first time you use it! “Use Load Mat with this product!” Or something.

I had to use the SD card the first time around – there was just nowhere to put it near my computer! I don’t use it much, but it’s good to know that the option is there for when I need it.

Thank you for rounding up some really great tips on using the Silhouette. I totally forgot about the SD Card thing until I accidentally pressed SD Card save instead of regular save.

I’m totally guilty of forgetting to change some settings *cough* load media *cough.*
